Wink Versus the Salsa

The Salsa has recently been discontinued by We-Vibe.  Those of us who owned one scrambled to pick up a few as it has been a favorite.  The thought of not having our beloved Salsa's was just too much.  Unfortunately, for those who never owned one or picked up one before they went away will never know.  I recently purchased the Wink by Crave.  This one gets a Big smiley face and a gold star.  It doesn't have all the same features but dam it is good!

The wink is virtuously silent,  this cannot be said for the Salsa.  The Salsa is rechargeable and the Wink runs on one AAA battery. The rechargeable is nice, but I have to say when I grabbed my Salsa to do this write this up one of them was completely dead and the second one that I own was almost dead.  The dead rechargeable can be very frustrating.  I do not know how long the standby charge lasts on my Salsa's.  I have never really kept track of it.

The vibrations on the one setting of the Wink rival the top vibration setting on the Salsa.  Multiple patterns on the Salsa, only one setting on the Wink.

The entire plastic toy vibrates on the Salsa,  The Wink's primary vibrations are centered in the silicone tip.  This is great for those who hate their hands going numb or getting tingly.  This vibration also bothers those with carpal tunnel syndrome.  The Wink is easier to hold on to with it's ergonomic design.

To me the silicone of the Wink feels a bit better than that of the plastic on the Salsa.  I feel that I can still get pinpoint type stimulation with the flattened tip of the wink.

I would honestly that the Salsa is still one of my top three clitoral vibrators, it is sadly discontinued.  I would suggest for those who need to replace their Salsa's or were considering purchasing one and didn't get one to try the  Wink,  you may find yourself most impressed too.

When comparing the Wink to the Tango, who has pretty much the same features of the  Salsa. It just has a diagonal flattened tip.  I can say that the Wink is just about the same in terms of the highest level of vibration.

It basically falls to what features that are important to you.  I would purchase the wink again before repurchasing my Tango.  They both sell for about the same price.  The Wink may be a little over priced compared to the features on the Tango.  But, the Tango is plastic.

The Wink is a great new clitoral vibe.  It has strong vibrations and a soft silicone tip.  It feels heavy in your hand and the metal is actually easy to hold on to even with lube.  It does work for some external lady parts  as well as perineal stimulation.  It may be battery operated but it does pack a punch.  It can also be used to work out the knots on your shoulders after a long day of yard work. It works great with intercourse, it is easy to hold onto by either partner in a multitude of positions.


  It works!!  It gets me off and fast!  I love this one and can easily say that it replaces some of the rechargeable toys that I own.

The wink is made from silicone and stainless steel.  The silicone is soft and silky, it glides across your skin.  You really don't need any lube with use but you can use water based lubes with it.  It does have the slight seam that is not noticed with use.  The handle portion is made from a heavier stainless steel.  The design of the wink with the metal base that is flared at the bottom is really nice to hold on to with use.  It is ergonomic.  Both components are hypoallergenic, non porous, latex and phthalates free.  It is safe to be shared with partners.  The wink comes in a blue, coral and pink colors.

The wink is a total of 4  1/8  inches long  and it has a  diameter of  5/8 inches.  The silicone portion is  1  1/2 inches long.  The base is slightly flared to make the toy stand up easily.

The wink has one function, on and off.  To turn the wink on you simply turn the silicone portion, turn to the right to turn it on and to the left to turn it off.  It has rumbly vibrations. The vibrations are centered in the silicone area and really don't carry through the metal base.  This is helpful for those who have issues with their hands.  No tingling fingers.

 I can easily rate this a  4  1/2 to 5 out of 5 on the vibration scale.  This is very impressive for a battery operated toy.  It runs on One AAA battery which is included with the toy.  I asked the designer why they made it battery operated and it was to help keep the price point lower.  It is virtually silent, I only hear a slight humm when I use it.

To access the battery compartment you unscrew the toy in the metal area under the silicone.  There is a water proofed O ring present.    It is completely water proofed so you can take it to the tub with you.
The Wink cleans up easily with antibacterial soaps and water, toy sprays or wipes.  Use only water based lubes so the finish on the silicone isn't compromised.  There really isn't any special storage issues with the Wink,  it is discreet, you can throw it in your bag and it really doesn't scream sex toy.  It fit's in with your cosmetics.

Crave uses minimal packaging with the instruction included on the flaps of the box and they include a thank you card with a neat Crave charm that you can put on a bracelet or whatever you wish to put it on.  The Wink comes with a one year warranty and it is made in the USA.

I use this one for when I want to get off, it works great.  I also use it in a teasing manner on my external lady parts and I like running it on my  "taint" area.  I love it!  I purchased this one myself and I would definitely purchase it again.
